 What is butane?

Butane is a light hydrocarbon that belongs to the same family of molecules and is composed of ethane, propane and methane. Butane is produced from crude oil produced from decaying organic matter buried deep underground. Fractional distillation is the purification of crude oil and the compression of butane into an odorless, flammable liquid. In the open-loop method, the butane used for extraction is released into the atmosphere. Because butane is very flammable, a flame or spark can easily cause a fatal explosion.

Closed-loop extraction eliminates the possibility of gas leakage by including all flammable solvents in a single piece of commercial-grade extraction equipment. Closed-loop extraction is performed at a specialized facility approved by the City using third-party approved equipment. Closed-loop extraction also allows for the recovery of spent butane for later use. The entire process is safer, more controlled and more effective than open-loop extraction.

 

What is vacuum purification BHO?

The concentrate of a bho extraction must be post-processed for purification to remove all residual solvents from the final product. The extraction technician places the concentrate in a vacuum oven while evaporating and removing the butane with a vacuum pump. Using low heat and pressure, solvent exhaust gases are left untouched in the concentrate.

 

The vacuum oven reduces the atmospheric pressure in the chamber, allowing the chemical to evaporate at a lower temperature than the ambient pressure. The vacuum oven maintains a constant temperature, heats the BHO concentrate without reducing its potency or flavor, and removes harmful substances confirmed by third-party laboratory testing.

Why is BHO different from other concentrates?

Butane Hash Oil (BHO) extraction and its products offer certain advantages over traditional whole flower bud extraction or other extraction methods. Compared to solvent-free concentrates such as kief or rosin, BHO concentrates have a broader consistency, higher potency, and can contain a more complete chemical characterization of the original form of the strain.

Users eventually upgraded to using a thermometer gun to get a more accurate temperature reading of the nail surface.

The e-nail consists of a digital controller that allows the user to adjust the temperature and the nail is attached to a coil used to heat the surface. What is winterization?

Dewaxing is the process of removing waxes and lipids from the final extract. Waxes and lipids accelerate the nucleation process and significantly affect the flavor and smoothness of the concentrate.

 

Winterization is a method of dewaxing. In winter, BHO is dissolved in a polar solvent, usually ethanol, at temperatures below zero degrees. The low temperature forces the lipids to float to the top for flow-through filtration.
